(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Around 800 people gathered near the state-owned bank, Caixa Geral (CGD) headquarters to protest the cuts.
As public servants, Caixa Geral employees should lose vacation and Christmas bonuses this year.
Meanwhile, the General Confederation of the Portuguese Workers (CGTP), the largest trade union federation in Portugal had organized a march to protest against precarious jobs that young workers are being forced to accept.
Many employees of CGD, which is the biggest bank in Portugal, say they could become precarious employees, as a result of the government austerity measures.
CGTP trade union federation say jobs at call centers, hospitals and supermarkets have become even more precarious and they abuse a usually young working force with no better options to survive.
Portugal is the third country to succumb to financial troubles in the euro zone debt crisis and seek funding assistance after Greece and Ireland.
Portugal has been under financial support from the European Union and the International Monetary Fund since April and has to show its full commitment to the bailout plan to the borrowers.
In the drive to cut debt, the government has unveiled a harsh package of measures to control the country's budget deficit in 2012 and 2013. The suggestion of these measures has sparked nationwide strikes in Portugal.
